June 2014 Newsletter

June 2014

Full set Boyd Trains available

When the factory door swings open, we never know who is going to pay us a visit. That's part of the excitement of operating your own business. Lately, a family from Australia made the long trek and came knocking on our door. They'd been buying glass from us in the past, but we always shipped it to them. Over the years, that amount continued to rise, so this time, they decided to purchase a durable suitcase that will house the glass on its way back to Adelaide, South Australia… and now they have a new suitcase with a story.

For those of you who will be traveling to Cambridge for the National Cambridge Collectors Convention festivities, June 25 through June 28, we invite you to stop by and pay us a visit. Our weekday hours are 8-3.

Perhaps you are looking for a new addition to your collections. Traci added several colors of the both the Debbie duck and the Ducklings to the website, since the last newsletter. Also found were HP Little Luck unicorns and Boyd Special Trains.

Generally these “Just Found” items can be spotted in Old Boyd. But the most effective way to search a desired color (or item name) is by simply typing the term in the Product Search box. That way no matter where the Boyd Glass piece is filed into a subcategory on the website, all items matching the search term are displayed.

Newsletter Specials – Nancy, HP Little Luck, Train

With Father’s Day, graduation, and summer-time birthdays quickly approaching, some of these Boyd Glass specials would make a perfect gift. The first newsletter special for June is the Nancy doll. The Nancy figurine is ½ the size of the Louise doll. All of these older colors available are displayed on our website. Most are only singles and will not be available for long; the Nancy will sell this month for $5.00.

The hand-painted unicorn, Little Luck, is unusual as a special. In our record of newsletter specials going back to 2008, we have not had the Little Luck shown, let alone a hand-painted one! Over the years, various artists have painted these unicorns. Each artist generally signs his special HP item with his initials. Selling for $10 each, various colors Little Luck HP are available; some of these are many years old.

The six-piece Boyd Special train comes in a box. These sets would make a great Father’s Day gift. We haven’t had the train on special since November 2011. The sets available have all six train cars in the same color. These train sets, selling for $45, are shown on the website.
